On Tuesday we had our second board meeting. While I won't be giving a board meeting report every time we meet this week held some exciting events I knew you'd want to be aware of:
1. The board decided on the choir's objectives for the next few years. Without going into much detail it was neat to see the objectives all center around the concepts of music education, social interaction, service and performance. We have some exciting objectives we are going to be gearing for next year so I hope to see all of you return in the fall. It will definitely be a year you don't want to miss.
2. The board completed and signed the Oklahoma non-for-profit application which was then submitted and approved yesterday by the State of Oklahoma. We are now officially Central Oklahoma Homeschool Choirs, Inc. Yeah!
While we have a long ways to go before we become tax-exempt, this is the first big step in the process. From here we have to prepare nearly a hundred page document to submit for the federal not-for-profit application. With this second application your member dues and other donations become tax deductible. That said, start thinking now if you know of a company who may be willing to donate or match a donation to Central Oklahoma Homeschool Choirs as we hope to be in a state where we can begin accepting those in the fall!
That's all for now. Look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday!
