Weekly Choir News Special Edition

This week's news has lots of very important information having to do with next week!  Please read carefully.

High School Tour Scholarships Available!

This week an anonymous donor has gifted the choir with 4 half-scholarships ($375 per person) for tour.  These scholarships are open to all high school students, those who have paid their initial down-payment and those that have not.  To apply, students should write a short essay (no more than 600 words) on why they would like to go on tour and why they deserve a scholarship.  The student's full name and e-mail address should also be included at the top of the essay.   Essays may be either hand written or typed (we care more about the information than the formatting).

All scholarship essays should be turned in at the information table and are due Tuesday, January 29th.  The COHC board will then review the applications and notify the recipients by February 1st.  As such, we will be extending the tour deadline until 2/5 because we really would like as many choir students to attend as possible.  This should give all students a few more weeks to sell choir ads or apply for the scholarship.  Just think, with this scholarship, tour could cost as little as $375 for a 5-day tour.  That's a great deal!

Circle the State with Song

This week is our final CTSWS rehearsal at 10 a.m.  Remember, all permission slips and CD listening forms are due this week and MUST be completed in order to participate at next Saturday's (1/26) CTSWS event.  I will also be handing out two complimentary adult tickets per student for Saturday's concert.  Students 18 and under are free.  Additional adult tickets may be purchased at the door for $2 each.

You have a detailed schedule in your packet.  Main highlights:  Students need to be at Bethany's First Church of the Nazarene on Saturday at 8:40 a.m.  and 3:00 p.m. is the concert which is open to the public.  Lunch and snacks are provided but students may want to bring a bottle of water.  Students should wear blue jeans/skirt and comfortable shoes.  They will receive their concert t-shirt on the day of the performance.

Following the concert, students are free to keep their music, if they desire or donate it to COHC.

Capital Day

Tuesday, February 12th is Homeschool Capital Day.  We have put in a request to have several of the choirs sing at this special event.  While we are still waiting to hear back from OCHEC the exact schedule, we hope you will make plans now to attend this event as it is our one-time each year to let it be known to our government officials how much we appreciate our freedoms to homeschool.  We will relay our rehearsal schedule/location for this day once details have been finalized with OCHEC.
