To keep auditions as unbiased as possible, this year's auditions will be held by Elizabeth Lopez, our new high school choral director, and Ashley Murphy, our new choreographer, both of whom will be able to provide an unbiased adjudication.
Bravo! will be conducted by Kathy Gossen with the choreography designed and taught by professional show choir choreographer and homeschool mom, Ashley Murphy.
Show Tunes and Costumes
This year's theme for Bravo! is Beat the '60s. We will be taking a step back in time and learning the music and dance moves of songs the early 60's such as Surfin' U.S.A., Peppermint Twist, Downtown, and the like. Peddle pushers and Keds here we come; if you are in Bravo! concerts will include a costume change and hair up-do. We are going to be movin' and groovin' for sure.
Will you need to purchase a separate uniform for Bravo? Yes and no. A Bravo! shirt will be provided with your Bravo! tuition. However, all members will need to find the remainder of their costume on their own to fit the '60s--namely, peddle pusher pants and white tennis shoes. Who knows...you might be able to raid your grandparents closet and get a costume for free! ;)
Tour and Travels
This year Bravo! will be performing at COHC's One Day Tour, Christmas Concert, and Spring Concert. In addition, Bravo! will be the group that takes the out-of-state tour this year to Branson. It's going to be a one-of-a-kind experience with us opening for several of the big shows in the city. Just to give you taste, we will be performing on the Branson Belle Showboat, the Titanic Museum, the Sight and Sound Theater (aka Noah), and Silver Dollar City. In addition, we will be staying at the Lodge of the Ozarks which is a wonderful facility right in the heart of Branson. The dates for the tour are April 17-19, 2013 and all Bravo! members will be expected to attend. In fact, $120 of a member's Bravo! tuition automatically goes toward the tour. So how much is the tour? $400. Minus the $120 from tuition, members will need to pay two payments of $140 each in the spring on February 4 and March 4, 2014. We will also be taking 4 sponsors on this tour so parents, if your child makes Bravo! and you would like to go, the cost will be same as the students making the tour payments $200. It's definitely going to be a jam-packed tour and one that members will not soon forget!
