Choir News from 8/27

Retreat is NEXT WEEK

We had so much fun getting started this week that I can't wait until retreat next week.  Just a reminder, here is our special retreat schedule for next Tuesday, September 3rd.
9 a.m. to 10 a.m.  Music Experience
9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  Principio
10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Bella Voce
11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Illuminati
Remember, a pizza lunch will be provided for Illuminati and Bella Voce students and a light snack for Principio and Music Experience students.  If your child has a food allergy, please feel free to have him/her bring his/her own lunch or snack.  Also, Illuminati and Bella Voce students, if you would like to have some desserts (preferably finger-food desserts such as cookies), please feel free to make and bring some to share with the group as well.  And Music Experience/Principio parents, if you would like to assist with the light snack for your child's group, please email me as I'd love to have your help in this way and homemade snacks are always the best!

Used Uniform Sales Reminder

We still have several used uniforms for sale should you be interested.  If interested, please check out the used uniforms available at the information desk next week.  All unsold used uniforms will be returned to the owner at the end of retreat next week if not sold.

Last Week to Order Extra T-Shirts

Extra T-shirts and Hoodies will remain on sale through NEXT WEEK.  If you are interested in purchasing one of these, you may obtain a shirt order form at the information table.  T-shirts are $10 and Hoodies are $20.

Special Music Packet Information

This week your child should have received the following special documents in his/her music packet:
  • $10 worth of coupons to area book stores
  • Parent Volunteer Contact List for the Fall Semester
It was brought to my attention that one of the coupons expires tomorrow so be sure to get out there and use it today!  Sorry for the close expiration date but still, it is nice that they would share in this way so thank them.  Have fun shopping!

Haven't signed up to volunteer yet, we still have needs for the Spring semester.  Please feel free to go here to check out all the areas you can serve COHC this year.  And thank you for volunteering!  We couldn't do it without you!

Membership Dues

For those paying monthly or needing to pay for their uniforms, an online payment option has been added to the right side bar of our website for your convenience.  Please feel free to take advantage of this opportunity or to come in to see Trudie Melson in person from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. any Tuesday.  For those joining between now and September 3rd, the semesterly option will still be available online on our enrollment page.  Also, just so you are aware, late fees will not be implemented until after September 3rd.

90/60 Update

Just want to give you an 90/60 update--we are getting closer to our 90/60 goal for this year.  We now have 94 students enrolled from 58 families!  Talk about amazing! All we need now are two more families.  Do you know of anyone?

Family Potluck Picnic Recap

For those that were able to come to the Family Potluck Picnic, we had a blast!  For those that couldn't, you totally missed out on a rockin' fun time!  In fact, many asked that we make it an annual event we had so much fun.  We shall have to wait and see about that but for now, here's a few highlights from the party.
Fun in the pool with a crazy diving board and super dooper huge slide!

Wet and crazy relays

Water Balloon Volleyball

And the favorite recipe of the picnic--Darla H's Dream Bars!  YUM!

Darla's Dream Bars

Crust:
½ cup butter
½ cup brown sugar
1 cup flour
Preheat ovento 350F. Mix butter and brown sugar thoroughly. Stir in flour. Press and flatten into an ungreased 9x13 baking pan. Bake for 10 minutes.
Topping:
2 eggs, well beaten
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 Tbsp flour
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 cup shredded coconut
Mix eggs, sugar and vanilla. Mix with flour, baking powder, and salt, then stir in coconut. Add 1 cup slivered almonds or chopped walnuts if you want!
Spread this topping over the crust and bake for 25 more minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly and cut into squares.
