Hello COHC Members and a Happy "early" 4th of July!
Choir rehearsals begin in 54 days and the Board of Directors, Choral Directors, CFO, and Executive Director are busily working behind the scenes to ensure a tremendous start to our 2016-2017 year.
A few changes were voted on by the Board of Directors this past Tuesday night and I wanted to share them with in this week's Member News. Some 'old' information has been sent out, but that was prior to our summer Board meeting. Please note that the following information is the MOST accurate and up to date.
The COHC would like to welcome Kayla Russell as the new Music Experience teacher for the Norman campus at Trinity Baptist Church. Mrs. Russell and her family moved to Oklahoma this past year. She has a degree in Music Education from Lamar University and currently teaches music to homeschool students. She also teaches aquatic classes at the Earlywine Park YMCA. Mrs. Russell is going to be a wonderful addition to our choral staff and we look forward to introducing her to the Norman campus this August.
Due to an excess of 22 students enrolling for Music Experience in Edmond, the Board has voted to hire an additional Music Experience teacher for an additional Music Experience class in Edmond. This new Music Experience class will be held at the same time as the current Edmond class (2:45pm - 3:45pm) on Wednesday afternoons. If you are someone you know is interested in this position, please send an email to Elizabeth Lopez (firstname.lastname@example.org). Any applicant must have at least a Bachelors in Music degree as well as a minimum 3 years of work experience within the music field.
For all Music Experience & Principio Families.
The board voted on Tuesday night to amend the Uniforms for Music Experience and Principio for this upcoming year. The handbook, website and drip emails will be amended to include the updated in formation, but I wanted you to see it as soon as possible. The following changes do not alter the uniforms for either Illuminati or Bella Voce as those two choirs will have the same uniforms as the past years.
The Principio students will be required to order uniforms for this upcoming year to ensure all students look "uniform". Those details are being solidified and will be emailed to all currently enrolled Principio families once completed. Our website and handbook will also be updated with the new uniform information upon completion.
Music Experience students are asked wear the following for our 2016-2017 performances.

We also ask that there are no bare shoulders, spaghetti straps, or bare mid-drifts. No 'characters' on clothes (i.e. Elsa, Minnie Mouse, Doc McStuffins, etc) or inappropriate words.
Spring Concert: Easter or Spring dress, skirt & blouse, or dressy pants & blouse with dress shoes. Again we ask that the skirt or dress be at least knee length. We also ask that there are no bare shoulders, spaghetti straps or bare mid-drifts. No 'characters' on clothes (i.e. Easter bunnies, Sofia the First, any Disney Princess, etc) or inappropriate words.
Christmas concert: dress pants (no jeans or shorts); collared shirt (short or long sleeve) or Christmas sweater with dress shoes (no athletic shoes). We ask that no clothing have sport team logos (ex. Thunder, OU, OSU, etc), characters (TMNT, Lion Guard, Dinosaurs, etc), or inappropriate words.
